Meet our Eye Doctor!

Meet our Eye Doctor!

We always get the question, is Dr. Drew Casey, the namesake of Casey Optical Too? Our answer is everything happens for a reason! Dr. Casey actually made his way from the Midwest to the Land of Enchantment. "I'm from Columbus, Ohio originally. "When I was a kid, I actually had a binocular vision issue where I didn't need glasses, but I had a hard time reading, and school was really difficult, and my eye doctor was able to diagnose me with a condition called convergence insufficiency, and I went through vision therapy and made things a lot easier," Dr. Casey said. "I was able to get a lot better at hitting the ball in baseball, it was really cool to me that an eye doctor was able to help me out, even without glasses. So ever since then, I was really interested in being able to help people and really pay it forward."

Moving from the Midwest to the Southwest has its perks. Albuquerque averages over 300 days of sunshine each year after all! More importantly, New Mexico has a shortage of doctors in many medical fields and Dr. Casey wanted to help an area in need.

"Weather is beautiful out here, you know, there's a huge shortage of doctors, so there's a big need to be helped out here. People are really happy when they see a young doctor out here. So moved out here. Me and my buddy, actually moved out here together after optometry school," Doctor Casey said.

What's the best thing about working at Casey Optical Too?

"Well, you know, most of my patients say that they can't get an eye exam for another six or eight months elsewhere. We're able to work them in, usually in about two weeks. People are super happy anytime that I'm able to help somebody out. It really makes my day, especially when they say, you know, I've never seen this well, or my eyes have never felt so good after being seen. So helping people is the best part of Optometry for sure."
